“Sleepout isn’t about pretending to be homeless. It’s about standing in solidarity, listening deeply, and being moved to act. When we open ourselves — even just a little — to discomfort, we create space for greater compassion, learning, and change. Together, we can go beyond awareness to build real solutions.” |
Rough sleeping is the act of sleeping in a public space not intended for human habitation. Rough sleepers lack elements of a home — a sense of security, stability, privacy, safety, and the ability to control their living space. A 2022 nationwide street count by MSF found around 530 rough sleepers in Singapore.
At New Hope Community Services, we’ve been providing shelter and support to rough sleepers and the homeless for the past 21 years. With the right help and intervention, we know that we can help people leave homelessness behind for good, but we need your support!Register for the main event on World Homeless Day and sleep out for a night. On 10 October, arrive at Kampung Siglap to collect your participant pack, and then join us for a short programme to learn about rough sleeping and homelessness in Singapore. After the programme, find a space and get ready to sleep out. The next morning, we’ll close with a time of reflection on our experience.
Once you’ve registered, do look out for an email from us with the schedule and list of things to bring with you. Check our FAQs for more info.
